DEMOCRATS TO CAMP OUT ALL NIGHT TO VOTE FIRST!

Chattanooga, TN/October 14, 2008-Every year, parents camp out at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences to be first in line to enroll their children. But tonight, campers will be out all night to change the country.

This evening, Obama supporters and local Democrats will be camping out all night to be the first to vote on Wednesday morning, October 15. Campers will begin assembling in the grassy area outside the Hamilton County Election Commission off Amnicola Highway at 9 p.m. tonight.

"Camping out to vote first is historical for Hamilton County," says John Bailes, Hamilton County Democratic Party Chairman. "I don't know if this has ever been done before in Chattanooga, but I've never seen such excitement and involvement in the political process as I have seen this year. These campers want to be the first to vote and change the country. We'll join them with hundreds of other Democrats on Wednesday morning when the doors open."

Before voting on Wednesday morning, campers will be joined by hundreds of other Democrats for a "First to Vote Rally" at the Election Commission at 7:30 a.m. The Hamilton County Election Commission will be one of three early voting sites and opens at 8 a.m.

The public is invited to the "First to Vote Rally," which kicks off early voting from October 15 - 30. Early vote sites include the Election Commission at 700 Terminal Road, the Brainerd Recreation Center at 1010 Moore Road, and Northgate Mall.

For more information about camping out early, please contact Justin Wilkins. Or call the Hamilton County Democratic Party for more information about the "Camp Out for Early Voting" or the "First to Vote Rally" at 423-266-4125.

This is wonderful to see so many people engaged in the democratic process. I hope these young people will continue to take an active part in government and shape our country.

Thank you all for your energy and activism.

Peace and blessings to all,
Sandy Lusk

I voted at Brainerd today (Wednesday) and the lines were so long. It took me 1 hr and 20 minutes - but you know I loved every minute of it.

What's the difference in camping out and just showing up when they open? I haven't even voted yet, and mine will count the same as yours...?
