MEMORIAL DAY AT CHATTANOOGA NATIONAL CEMETERY ON MAY 26
Memorial Day will be observed Monday, May 26, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. A musical interlude by American Legion Post 95's Legionnaires will precede the 11 a.m. ceremony. Wilkes T. Thrasher Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4848 is the host unit. Ken Miller, WO4 USN retired, will be the keynote speaker. CAVC Chairman Maj. Gen. Bill Raines, USAR retired, will open the ceremony and John Scott, commander of VFW 4848, will do the call to order. The color guard of Vietnam Veterans of America will post the colors. Member veteran organizations will have the massing of the colors, followed by the Choo Choo Chorus presenting the National Anthem and Bill Medley leading in the Pledge of Allegiance. Paul Martin, director of the cemetery, will give the welcome and Maj. Raines will recognize the dignitaries. Kim Ratcliffe, CAVC secretary will recognize the Gold Star Mothers. Last roll call will present the names of veteran members who died the past year. God Bless America will be offered by the Choo Choo Chorus, followed by the 21-gun salute. The observance will be moved to the National Guard of Holtzclaw if the weather is inclement.
