Dear Editors,Because journalists adhere to reality, I find it strange that you have decided not to "stick to the facts" in your endorsements for sheriff. Indeed, your endorsements of Jim Hammond ignore your own 20 years of news reporting and editorializing--the sum of which was unfavorable to Mr. Hammond. Strange too that it is your news reporting that handed the public a two-decade catalogue of Mr. Hammond's poor budget management, a record of constant jail breaks, and a lack of will to investigate corruption right under his nose. Stranger still that you refused to endorse Hammond in the 1990s because you associated him with corruption and incompetence, but you endorse him now. And strangest of all is that you will not be honest and tell us why you were wrong about Mr. Hammond back then. In the 1990s, you endorsed John Cupp against Mr. Hammond. Yet Mr. Cupp had less experience to run for sheriff than Commissioner Greg Beck has now. Why did you endorse a less experienced candidate than Beck?
