Our Party BlogHave your say about all things democraticApril 11, 2008SENATOR BERKE & COMMISSIONERS BROOKS AND MACKEY SPEAK OUT ON WATER
As water consumption and supply become more and more critical to Chattanooga, Hamilton County and the state of Tennessee, our Democratic leaders are stepping up to help. After the Tennessee Joint House Resolution 919 passed easily in the Tennessee Senate, Democrat Senator Andy Berke said this to the Chattanooga Times Free Press: "Over the next decade, we're going to be dealing with this no matter what happens with this border. They've [Georgia lawmakers] been fighting with Florida. They've been fighting with Alabama. They're going to be fighting with us. We may as well get prepared for the long haul on dealing with this issue and on water conservation." Addressing the Tennessee-American Water Company's requested rate increase of 20.58%, Democrat County Commissioner John Allen Brooks said this to the Times Free Press, "This is a great asset, but here recently y'all haven't done a very good job running that asset. I think it's an asset that should be in control of the people." Both County Commissioner Warren Mackey and John Allen Brooks believe that the water company should be sold to the city of Chattanooga. The County Commission voted 7-0 to reject the rate increase. To read more about what Commissioners Brooks and Mackey are saying and doing about local water hikes, please CLICK HERE. Well, join American Insider Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 7 p.m. on WGOW 102.3 FM and live on the Internet at American Insider for Night of the Political Dead.
In our classic yet still creepy tale, politicians are holed up in in their political offices across the country and battle constant attack from voters who have been fighting to keep them from coming back into political life, but the politically dead are brought back to life by a mysterious radiation causing them to run for office over and over again-causing them to let their egos get in the way of certain political death. Some of the political dead committed political suicide, others just like to come back from the grave over and over again--tormenting voters accross the country.
