The South Chickamauga Creek Greenway Alliance is celebrating this wonderful waterway and flyway tomorrow, May 24. You are invited to spend the day on the creek and pick up a free t-shirt. Here are the activities:

Activity: Birds & Nature on Brainerd Levee at 8 a.m. South Chickamauga Creek is a significant eastern flyway for waterfowl. This levee area is also designated a Wildlife Observation Area by the TN Wildlife Resources Agency. Native American Jamie Russell will also play his cane flute and explain how it is made. These events will take place at Sterchi Farm, a new City Parks & Recreation Site. Jim Ledbetter of TN Valley Canoe Club and Chattanooga Outdoors provide canoeing expertise. Meet on Sterchi Farm at the Harrison Pike Bridge across from WaterHaven subdivision.

Activity: Crawdads & Fish Dive at 1 p.m. South Chickamauga Creek is the home of the endangered Chickamauga Crayfish and the Snail Darter.
