Greg Beck, Democratic candidate for Sheriff of Hamilton County, has been endorsed by three retired Hamilton County law enforcement leaders, according to an announcement made today by Greg Beck for Sheriff Campaign Manager Pam Ladd.Retired Hamilton County Sheriff's Department Deputy Chief Dave Alverson and retired Assistant Chief Deputy Richard Thurman, as well as retired Chattanooga City Police Department Deputy Chief Charles Cooke said today they support Beck as the only candidate who can lead the department in a new direction. "We are honored to have the support and endorsement of these three well respected and outstanding retired law enforcement leaders," Ms. Ladd said. "Their endorsements today confirm Greg Beck has the integrity and leadership qualities to lead the department in a new direction." "The position of sheriff requires much more than experience in law enforcement," said Mr. Alverson, who ran as an independent for sheriff in the 2006 election. "The sheriff of Hamilton County must be a leader who can work with the Hamilton County Commission and motivate the 400 employees in the department to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Hamilton County. Greg Beck, who serves as a Hamilton County Commissioner, has proven he is the man who can lead the department and its employees out of the current period of uncertainty." Former Captain Cook stated, "Greg Beck's thirty five years of community service has prepared him to work with other law enforcement agencies to build community trust through pro-active and inter-active approaches to prevent and eliminate crime county wide. His community service background will provide an excellent avenue for all citizens of Hamilton County to have a voice in crime prevention and community integrity." Mr. Thurman noted, "The next sheriff of Hamilton County must be a man of proven integrity and management experience. Greg Beck is that man." Way to go Alverson, Cook and Thurman...you are behind the right man. Why aren't you revealing the corrpution behind Jim Hammond? I don't know about the three you mentioned as having knowledge of corruption but
some of the things I know are of course the Lonnie Hood thing, the exercise bike bought for Ron Gilbert by Hammond with tax payer money, the arrest of Geno Bennett's son, Doug, for DUI on 9-4-89, for DUI, which he said Hammond would take care of and records indicate he never was tried. Geno was employeed by the sheriffs department at that time. The "secret" fund set up at a well known gun shop with guns traded from the department, used for personal purchases. Post a Reply...
